Vityaz Podolsk vs. Slovan Bratislava

Slovan are going on the road, and they are doing it properly. The trip to the outskirts of Moscow will continue towards Khabarovsk, Vladivostok and Shanghai after that:

SKA St. Petersburg vs. Jokerit Helsinki

Unbeaten Jokerit arrived in St. Petersburg for what looks like their first proper test of the season - and that off the back of four wins in the first four matches of the new season. SKA in the meantime have had a mixed start to the season, but with a derby against Jokerit up next, they will surely have enough motivation. Their most recent encounter in the pre-season was feisty enough to say the least.

Avangard Omsk vs. Ak Bars Kazan

It is becoming a repetitive theme already, but Balashikha is becoming the new Omsk this season, so Ak Bars have had to travel to the West for this one match before heading East again, to face Salavat Yulaev on 14 September:

Barys Astana vs. Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk

Last season's suprise package from the Eastern Conference has had a tricky start to the new season, but also Barys is currently still on a negative record. One team will get it right in Astana, but the way things ran so far, one would expect this to be the hosts:

CSKA Moscow vs. Lokomotiv Yaroslavl

It is a strangely short trip for Loko, playing games in Bratislava and Moscow on the same trip. After a win at the Ondrej Nepala Arena, they are in for a slightly bigger task in Moscow against last season's finalists CSKA:

Dinamo Riga vs. HC Dynamo Moscow

One last home game for Riga's finest before they embark on the dreaded long trip the far-eastern trojka of Kunlun, Amur and Admiral. They are hosting HC Dynamo which has played four matches already, but yet only recorded one victory, against Sibir Novosibirsk. Dinamo Riga in the meantime may have surprise the public a bit, winning away against Magnitka before beating the same Sibir outfit at home:

Avangard Omsk vs. Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk

It's Balashikha instead of Omsk Arena for Avangard this season, but this does not seem to hamper performances so far. In terms of travel, this now means for oppositions that they may have to take a one-off trip from the Middle East to Moscow. The journey will go on to Astana after that, which obviously would have been a lot closer from Omsk:

SKA St. Petersburg vs. HC Sochi

The league giants from St. Petersburg are looking for a bit more luck after two rather surprising defeats early on this season. They are hosting HC Sochi, which has just embarked on its first road trip of this season which will take them to St. Petersburg, Podolsk and Minsk:

Slovan Bratislava vs. Lokomotiv Yaroslavl

Meant to be a fairly routine win in Bratislava, the game turned a bit nasty towards the end for Yaroslavl's finest. Czech defender Jakub Nakladal picked a major penalty for boarding and at the same time got himself involved in a fight with Kyle Chipchura from Slovan. Their next game will be away at CSAK Moscow, where they will head on board of a Yamal Airbus A320:

Spartak Moscow vs. Kunlun Red Star

Kunlun had a rough start of the season, outplayed by an exciting Jokerit side in Helsinki on Monday and spending even more time in the West now. It is somewhat hard to believe that the team has not spent one day in China since the beginning of the pre-season in July. But in fact, Kunlun has had camps in Latvia, Czech Republic and in Sochi before staying St. Petersburg and Finland right before the start of the season. They will move on to Magnitka on the first part of their long journey home:

Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod vs. Vityaz Podolsk

Vityaz' task away at Nagorny Arena will not be easy, as surely the home side Torpedo will be keen to build on the surprise victory over SKA the other day. Vityaz has recored an away in Nizhnekamsk first up, so they have points in the bank early and even more so, from an away at what was a difficult fortress to conquer last season.

Having scored as many goals as rarely ever in matches in recent seasons, Jokerit are waiting get into the act with Amur with a smile on their faces. Amur for their part, have lost their first game on the Western road trip away at Spartak Moscow, so they will be keen to make up for this:

HC Sochi vs. Kunlun Red Star

A loss in their season opener means that both teams are still desperate to get going this term. Sochi at least got to grab one point for a shootout loss against Admiral, but the Bolshoi faithful would surely have hoped for more against the opposition from the Far East. Kunlun had a bright start against Jokerit, but was pegged back during a second and third periods, where the Chinese could not quite close the floodgates against an inspired Jokerit:

Ak Bars Kazan vs. Vityaz Podolsk

The jury is probably still out on Ak Bars, following a humiliating loss against championship favourites SKA and a laboured 2-0 win over Dinamo Minsk in the second match of the season. Vityaz meanwhile had to survive an even tighter match, winning by the smallest of small margins away at Neftekhimik, 1-0 thanks to a goal from Nikita Komarov very early in the third period:

The Green Men left it really late in their first game in Moscow against HC Dynamo, scoring two goals in the last six minutes of regulation time. They finally won the game in overtime thanks to a goal from Artyom Sergeyev. Ufa then traveled on to Cherepovets, where they will take on Severstal, who beat Sibir in their first match of the season, also by 3-2 goals, but in regulation time.

Match two of the regular season should be way easier than the first one for Traktor. Slovan can not be rated quite as highly as CSKA. Slovan for their part are on a tough trip first up, which may quickly cause some disappointment in a team that is widely expected to struggle this season:
